  Rezumat:  The Importance of Role Models in the Process of Becoming a Teacher. We all have in mind one or more teacher models. Spontaneously or consciously we adopt their style and as teachers we often realize that we imitate their gestures, use their methods. The positive models confirm us how is it worth to teach. On the other hand we posess negative experiences, which also manifest themself inside us. Earlier experiences often evoke themselves in concrete situations. For example: a student teacher is faced with a student he sees as unmotivated. This student immediately triggers old images and feeelings, along with the desire to change something in that student and its accompanying behavioral inclination. It is not inconceivable that at a stroke all the knowledge offered during his/her professional preparation will be nullified and replaced by the model he/she has in mind. The student teacher may for example seek for a confrontation with the student, even though the theory on interpersonal classroom behavior says that in such a situation the teacher would do better to opt for cooperative rather than oppositional behaviour. We are able to understand better our professional temper if we make clear the influences guiding our professional behaviour. By recalling, understanding and working up the images and experiences related to our former teacher(s) help, our professional self knowledge. That''s how becomes conscious why we are reacting and doing things in a certain way in our dayly practice.
